When one of my sons was three or four, I learned that whenever he came running into the kitchen for a towel (usually with a mildly terrified look on his face) it meant that he’d spilled something. Didn’t bother to tell anyone, but rather chose to clean it up himself, but he cleaned it up as you would expect a kid his age to clean it up.
